Overview
The 2025 Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer Pro S is VW's answer for electric estate car fans, blending massive practicality with long-distance touring capability. This top-tier trim is all about maximizing range with its larger battery. Positioned as a premium family hauler, it’s a seriously compelling alternative to traditional petrol and diesel wagons. With new pricing around €59,895 and used examples hovering near €57,900, it offers a sophisticated package for those needing space and zero-emission driving. It’s a properly posh and practical EV that really ticks all the boxes for a modern family.
What's New for 2025?
The big news for 2025 is the arrival of the ID.7 Tourer itself, the super-practical estate version of the slick fastback. The Pro S trim is brand new, introducing the larger 86 kWh battery pack for those craving maximum range. Volkswagen has also been rolling out software updates across the ID. range, bringing a much-needed speed boost and improved user interface to the infotainment system, including illuminated sliders for volume and climate. Battery pre-conditioning is also a key feature, automatically prepping the battery for optimal DC fast charging when a station is set as a destination.
Design & Exterior
Forget boxy wagons; the ID.7 Tourer Pro S is a seriously sleek shooting brake. Its design is incredibly slippery through the air, helping boost that all-important range. The front end is shared with the fastback, complete with the signature full-width LED light bar that gives it a futuristic look at night. It’s a big car, measuring 4961 mm long, 1862 mm wide, and 1551 mm tall, giving it fantastic road presence. The Pro S trim gets stylish alloy wheels that complete the premium, modern aesthetic. This is definitely not your grandad's old estate.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Step inside the ID.7 Pro S and you're greeted by a minimalist, high-tech cabin that feels properly premium. The star of the show is the massive 15-inch infotainment screen, which handles almost all controls, complemented by a slick augmented-reality head-up display. Space is absolutely cavernous for five passengers. The boot is huge, swallowing 605 litres of luggage with the seats up, expanding to a van-like 1714 litres when they’re folded down. While there's no frunk for your cables, the overall practicality is simply immense for a family EV.
Performance & Driving Experience
Don’t let the family-hauler looks fool you; the Pro S gets a proper shift on. Its single Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor sends a punchy 210 kW and 560 Nm of torque to the rear wheels, launching it from 0-100 km/h in a brisk 6.7 seconds. While it’s more of a comfortable cruiser than a sports car, the rear-wheel-drive setup provides balanced handling and the instant shove is addictive. It wafts along beautifully on the motorway, offering a quiet and supremely refined driving experience perfect for long-distance journeys with the family.
Range, Battery & Charging
This is where the Pro S trim really shines, thanks to its hefty 86 kWh usable battery pack. Green Cars Compare calculates a fantastic real-world range of 587 km, which should banish range anxiety for most drivers, aided by an impressive efficiency of 6.83 km/kWh. When you need to plug in, it juices up quickly, accepting a maximum of 200 kW from a DC fast charger. At home, the standard 11 kW on-board charger will replenish the battery overnight. The conveniently located CCS Type 2 port ensures compatibility across Europe.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
Volkswagen hasn't skimped on safety, with the ID.7 platform earning a top-tier 5-star rating from Euro NCAP. The Pro S comes packed with a solid suite of standard driver-assistance features, including autonomous emergency braking and lane-keeping assist to keep a watchful eye out. You can upgrade to the advanced Travel Assist system, which acts as an expert co-pilot on the motorway, handling steering, acceleration, and braking, and even assisting with lane changes. This makes long journeys less fatiguing and much safer for everyone on board.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
The ID.7 Pro S offers solid peace of mind with Volkswagen's standard warranty package. In Europe, this typically includes a 2-year warranty on the vehicle itself, regardless of mileage. More importantly for an EV, the high-voltage battery is covered for 8 years or 160,000 km, whichever comes first, with a guarantee that it will retain at least 70% of its original usable capacity. The reduced maintenance needs of an electric car, with no oil changes to worry about, also helps keep long-term running costs refreshingly low.
