What's New for 2025?
Everything! The 2025 Macan RWD Electric isn't just an update; it's a ground-up revolution, marking the debut of the fully electric Macan generation. Riding on Porsche’s cutting-edge 800-volt Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, shared with stablemates like Audi, it signifies a bold new era. This RWD model kicks off the electric Macan range, offering a fresh design, state-of-the-art tech, and a silent, punchy powertrain. It’s a complete departure from the internal combustion engine predecessor, aiming to set new benchmarks in the electric SUV segment.
Design & Exterior
The Macan EV boasts a sleek, Taycan-inspired silhouette with a dynamic, coupe-like roofline and signature Porsche four-point LED daytime running lights. It’s a looker! Dimensionally, it measures 4784 mm in length, 1938 mm in width (excluding mirrors), and 1622 mm in height. The RWD Electric trim features aerodynamically optimised wheels and frameless doors, enhancing its modern, sporty appeal. An active rear spoiler deploys for improved stability and a dash of cool. Its significantly improved aerodynamics contribute massively to its range capabilities, making it slip through the air.
Interior, Tech & Cargo
Step inside, and you’re greeted by a stunning, driver-focused cockpit that can feature up to three screens, including a gorgeous 12.6-inch curved digital driver’s display and an optional screen for the passenger – proper tech fest! Material quality is top-notch, as expected from Porsche. Seats for five offer good comfort. For your luggage, there's a generous 540 litres in the boot, expanding to 1348 litres with the rear seats folded down, plus a very useful 84-litre frunk under the bonnet. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard.
Performance & Driving Experience
The Macan RWD Electric packs a punch with its rear-mounted Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) delivering a healthy 250 kW (that’s 340 PS!) and a stout 563 Nm of torque. This translates to a brisk 0-100 km/h dash in just 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 220 km/h. Being rear-wheel drive, expect that classic, engaging Porsche handling balance. Porsche’s sophisticated suspension systems, likely with optional air suspension and PASM, ensure a superb blend of sporty agility and everyday comfort. Multiple regenerative braking modes allow for tailored energy recovery.
Range, Battery & Charging
This Macan RWD Electric features a 95 kWh usable battery (100 kWh nominal), delivering a real-world range of approximately 503 km, as calculated by Green Cars Compare – plenty for most adventures! Energy efficiency is a notable 5.29 km/kWh. Its advanced 800-volt architecture and CCS Type 2 port allow for blistering DC fast-charging up to 270 kW (even managing a respectable 135 kW on 400V stations), refilling from 10-80% in about 21 minutes. Standard AC charging is a solid 11 kW.
Safety & Driver-Assistance Features
While the official Euro NCAP rating for the 2025 Macan Electric is yet to be announced, Porsche consistently targets top marks, so expect a five-star performance. Standard safety kit in Europe will likely include crucial features like autonomous emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and traffic sign recognition. Buyers can further enhance safety with optional extras such as adaptive cruise control with advanced lane centering, a comprehensive 360-degree camera system, and sophisticated parking assistance features for ultimate peace of mind on every journey.
Warranty & Maintenance Coverage
Porsche typically offers a comprehensive 2-year/unlimited kilometre vehicle warranty for new cars in Europe. Critically for an EV, the high-voltage battery is usually covered for 8 years or 160,000 km, with a guarantee against excessive degradation, ensuring long-term confidence in your electric powertrain. Powertrain components often align with the vehicle warranty period. Maintenance for EVs is generally lower than ICE cars, with Porsche using condition-based servicing schedules. Expect Porsche's renowned build quality and engineering to translate into solid reliability for this new electric chapter.
