Video Summary
Here is the summary of the YouTube video: - The Audi e-tron GT is Audi's new range-topping electric model and is based on the same mechanical underpinnings as the Porsche Taycan. - The e-tron GT has nice details like the honeycomb pattern on the grill at the front. - The honeycomb pattern on the grill at the front can be the same color as the body paint if desired. - On standard e-tron GT models, the surround is a dark gray color with matching side trim and also a rear diffuser. On RS models, this is a black color. - The car has frameless doors at the front and at the rear. - It also has a full-width light bar as well as a spoiler that comes out at the back and can be set in one of two different positions. - LED headlights are standard, but you can also get adaptive matrix LED headlights with laser main beam, which double the length of the illumination. It’s standard on top trims. - The interior has lots of buttons, which is great because it means that the simple functions are very easy to do. - The touchscreen infotainment system is a 10.1-inch screen that has been seen in lots of other Audis before. It is responsive, has the functions needed, and also gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard. - The e-tron GT has the same basic architecture as the Taycan, and both those cars have a brilliant relationship between the steering wheel, the pedals, and the driver's seat. There’s loads of adjustment. - The driver seats are good, but the standard sport seats give you quite as good of support for your lower back as the Taycan seats do. However, both offer better seats than what you get in the Tesla Model S. - The interior quality of the e-tron GT and the Taycan is light-years ahead of what we’ve seen in the Model S so far. - If you're sat in the middle seat, you've got to put your feet either side of this big lump in the floor, which isn't great either. The door openings are quite narrow. - Six carry-on-size suitcases fit in the boot of the e-tron GT with enough space left over for a soft bag. - There’s underfloor storage to house the charging cables unless you add the upgraded stereo. - In terms of handling, there's no contest, and the e-tron GT and the Taycan are another level entirely to the Tesla Model S. - The Tesla wipes the floor with all of its rivals when it comes to range and charging. The long-range version will officially manage up to 412 miles from a full charge, whereas the e-tron GT will do 295 and the RS, 280. - Real range in the e-tron GT is likely to be 230 miles from a full charge on a mix of town, A-road, and motorway driving. - The e-tron GT will charge at rates of up to 270 kW. - The steering is always quite light in the e-tron GT. - The 2-speed automatic gearbox can be a bit jerky at low speeds or with sudden acceleration. - The entry-level e-tron GT Quattro is the best option since is it cheaper (around 80,850 £) and has more kit than the base rear wheel drive Taycan (around 70,690 £). It is not as powerful or as good to drive, but offers many advantages. - Recommends adding the comfort and sound pack plus, and avoid the top trim. - It is a fantastic electric car. - The Taycan is the better car in some areas.
