Video Summary

The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 shares its architecture with the Ioniq 5. The Ioniq 6’s closest rival is the Tesla Model 3. The entry-level Ioniq 6 has about 150 horsepower and a 240-mile range. The mid-level version has 240 horsepower and up to 360 miles of range. The top-of-the-line has 320 horsepower and a little over 300 miles of range. Pricing ranges from the mid $40,000s to the mid $50,000s.

There is no performance version of this car like the Tesla Model 3 performance. The Ioniq 6 offers standard rear-wheel drive or available all-wheel drive. It is about 191 inches long, approximately seven inches longer than a model 3 and is in midsized sedan territory.

The key fob design is based on the Hyundai H logo. There are squared pixels as the theme of the Ioniq 6. The front and rear lights use square pixels, as does the spoiler.

The side door handles are flush with the body of the car.

The heated seats are controlled through the infotainment screen. There is a two-level center console. There is no gear selector in the center console.

The gauge cluster screen is not configurable. You can't show the music you are listening to or show a full-screen map.

Driver-assist technology is good in this car. The adaptive cruise control slows down and speeds up with the car in front.

Lane-keeping assist will steer the car around curves on the freeway. This is great technology for a car in this price range.

The Ioniq 6 back seat has a ton of space. As a sedan the overall headroom is limited and taller passengers might hit their head on the ceiling. Rear seat passengers also get USB-C ports to charge their devices.

The trunk space is a good size. Small pull tabs make it easy to fold down the rear seats from the trunk.

The driving experience is quiet, easy, and reasonably powerful. The suspension is soft.

The Ioniq 6 receives a Doug Score of 56 out of 100.
