Video Summary

Acura ZDX is the brand's first full battery EV. Honda struck a deal to use the GM Ultium platform on their Prologue SUV and developed the Acurafied version. The base A-Spec comes with a single 358 horsepower rear motor, while a dual motor AWD setup with 490 horsepower is optional. The Type S cranks up the horsepower to 499 and 544 pound-feet of torque. It shares the same 102 kWh battery, meaning a 313 miles range in the A-Spec, and 278 in the Type S. The drive loop observed 295 miles. 190 kW max fast charging provides up to 80% charge in 42 minutes. Efficiency is rated at 43 kWh per 100 miles. Full one-pedal driving is available along with a regen on-demand brake paddle. The Type S gets upgrades for performance; bigger stabilizer bars, quicker steering, 22-inch wheels, adaptive air suspension, and summer tires are available. It is not strong off the line but races to 60 in 4.5 seconds. It reaches the end of the quarter mile in 12.9 seconds at 110 mph. Weight of three tons is well distributed. Very light steering and stability control take getting used to, with minimal body roll in the ZDX. A Type S gets Brembo brakes that brought the car to a stop in a short 102 feet from 60 mph. There is a digital instrument cluster and 11.3-inch color touch screen display, integrated with Google. All ZDXs have Milano leather seating; Type S upgrades include microsuede inserts. It includes a unique steering wheel, aluminum trim, logos, and a Bang & Olufsen sound system. The cargo volume is 28.7 cubic feet, expanding to 62 cubic feet with the seats down. The A-Spec is $65,850, and the Type S is $74,850. Both versions are available for full federal tax credits. It is a very well-executed first step into the world of electrification, forward thinking, better timed, and better looking.
