2024 GMC Sierra EV Denali | A Juggernaut of Awesomeness

Video Summary

The GMC Sierra Denali EV Edition 1 is a luxury electric pickup truck with a very big battery and an even bigger price tag. It weighs over four tons. It boasts 754 horsepower and 785 pound-feet of torque, accelerating from 0-60 in just over four seconds, and has 24-inch wheels. It has a max towing of 10,000 pounds and 440 miles of driving range. The electric architecture can take advantage of fast public chargers, gaining 100 miles of range in only 10 minutes under ideal conditions. Its dimensions are comparable to a lifted gas-powered Silverado 1500 crew cab, but it has a bigger back seat and more cargo-carrying options.  It features an "Avalanche" style midgate design for carrying longer items, which extends the bed to nearly 11 feet when open and has the advantage that still allows for a rear passenger. It has an e-trunk under the hood with 11 cubic feet of space. It has dual motors with torque vectoring all-wheel drive and an adaptive air ride suspension. Its four-wheel steering features "crabwalk" mode. The drive is exceptional-powerful, smooth, quiet with surprising dexterity. But it has not performed well in the snow.
Priced at $99,495, it does not qualify for the federal tax credit. Because of its size, home-charging may not be feasible, and it can cost around $70 for a partial charge. The 24-inch tires are awful in the snow and about $600 to replace. Lacking some luxury features-power running boards, massaging seats, the GMC Sierra Denali is all about size, weight, and battery capacity, and it’s living large and in charge. There's no CarPlay. While the electronics are excellent, the lack of phone projection is unfortunate. The cabin may fall a bit short of standards for the price. Although the GMC Sierra Denali EV is a really neat vehicle, it may be a handful.
