2024 Volvo XC40 update driving REVIEW - RWD or AWD with better range!

Uploaded 1 year ago by Autogefühl

Video Summary

The Volvo XC40 Recharge has a closed front in the pure electric version, but combustion engine versions are still available. The reviewed model has a cloud blue color, optional pixel light, Thor’s Hammer LED.

It stays at 4.43m length. The C40 is only 1 cm longer, mostly due to the shape being different. The car can be ordered with a two-tone roof. Wheels shown are 20", and 19" aerodynamic wheels are also available.

The review notes a technological change, from front or all-wheel drive to a rear electric motor which is always the stronger one. This set up is designed for better efficiency and range. CD value is 0.34 and 0.32 on C40 (better efficiency at higher speeds).

The smaller battery stays the same; the larger battery has a four-kilowatt-hour upgrade to 79 net. 200-kilowatt DC peak, means 28 minutes from 10 to 80% state of charge. Front turning indicator looks pretty fancy and replaces the Thor’s Hammer daytime running light. The rear turning indicator pulsing effect may or may not be an LED.

This has a small frunk underneath a clean top. Key fob controls its side and is considered not too practical.

Interior doors are textured and made with soft touch material, a three-dimensional inlet, and felt covering, lower part is hard pack. Ergonomics are decent. Seats look cool; some have a wool share that can feel unpleasant on the skin. The reviewed model offers a full leatherette option and or microfiber option.

The whole car is animal-free, though this is not the case on this model's wool seat. The car has a panoramic roof with shades, as an option, that can open.

Dashboard is simple and clean, has topography-style three-dimensional inlets. The vertical screen infotainment system has Google Maps natively integrated.

The car can have 2 UBS C-chargers, a 12V power supply, and an inductive charging pad that is not cooled. It comes with a crystal shifter. The cupholders are adaptive.

Rear seats also offer the smooth touch material, build quality, again the lower pack back part.

Due to its length, it still fits taller adults, though this comes with trade offs for headroom and leg space, less comfortable for the middle person. Boot has 450 ltr. Towing is at 1.5t (RWD) / 1.8t (AWD) and comes with a semi-automatic tow hook.

As the vehicle has limited length there is limited cargo volume.

With Adaptive Cruise Control and the increased radar sensor range, it allows for greater driving precision and a greater sense of safety. The rear feels agile, it’s easy to accelerate out of the corners uphill. At a realistic range of 440 kilometers that translates to 270 miles. The performance is high due to the increased acceleration and efficiency.

The downside is mainly the price with options fully installed. The steering feels a bit artificial with a slight delay, but is not a bad trade off.
