Video Summary

The 2025 Genesis G80 mid-size sedan has a styling theme of athletic elegance with a new grill, slightly reshaped bumpers, and new wheels. The unique two-line LED headlights get revised micro lens array technology. Interior changes are significant, with a new dash and console eliminating the hooded gauge panel and wide info screen and merging them into a 27-inch LG panoramic display. There is a console-mounted controller, which is easy to confuse with the dial-like shifter. Materials are on par or a notch above most European luxury rivals. The sport prestige trim comes with Nappa leather seats, carbon fiber trim, micro suede materials, heated armrests, a head-up display, and upgraded active safety features. Front seats are comfortable, and there is plenty of room in the back. The car has the same powertrains as last year: a 300 hp 2.5 liter turbo four or an upgraded 375 hp 3.5 liter twin-turbo V6. 0-60 mph in 5 seconds flat. The 3.5 T pulled as strong as it sounds. The same paddle-shift, 8-speed automatic transmission shifts smoothly. Government fuel economy ratings are 16 city, 24 highway, and 19 combined. The test mileage came in at 21.3 MPG of premium. Sport Prestige adds rear wheel steering and an electronic limited slip differential. The 60 to 0 braking test resulted in an average of 104 feet with little fade. Even with the sport mode that tightens steering and suspension, improves throttle response, and adjusts shifting points and the sport prestige trim with rear wheel steering, the car did not feel overly sporty in the handling course and has a heavy presence. Starting prices are $58,350 for the 2.5 T and $70,850 for the 3.5 T. Genesis has made steady progress and remains a great option for luxury-minded buyers who prioritize true value.
