Video Summary
The refreshed EV6 has a new headlight module with a crab claw look that some may find distinctive but unusual. It borrows styling cues, including DRLs with a triangular end, from the larger EV9. Formally, the EV6 is the same size and based on the same E-GMP platform as the Ioniq 6 and Ioniq 5, but has its own distinct style. It's more coupe-like than the Ioniq 5 and less sedan-like than the Ioniq 6.
The Greenhouse really pinches at the top, creating exaggerated hips that lead to a more aerodynamic and efficient design than the Ioniq 5. The charge door has moved to the Tesla side; it uses the J3400 charge port. The charging port will be on the passenger side in almost every EV6, with the exception of the EV6 GT which continues to be built in South Korea. The EV9 gets the updated charge port in every model, including the GT. The location on the passenger side of the EV6 is safer for curb-side charging.
The car has the same lid-in-lid style front trunk. It features new battery packs for both the standard- and extended-range models. Expect nearly 320 miles of combined EPA range if you get the 84-kilowatt hour battery pack.
The interior is comfortable. Some did not like the touchscreen control panel. The ventilated, heated seats have touch buttons. Also, the model is a GT-Line trim. Textures have been updated on the center console and dashboard. The car has wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. For the steering wheel, the squircle airbag cover has a two-tone design that some people find unusual. There are regen paddles, and Hyundai and Kia give you more control. The steering column is power-tilt telescopic and linked with a memory seat. Taller drivers may find that if they sit up, the hair can hit the top.
The cargo area remains relatively unchanged and retains its design profile. A big improvement will be the new software, a Kia activation required to allow you to show that one.
