BMW iX3 Real World Review - How good is an electric X3?

Uploaded 4 years ago by Evolve Automotive

Video Summary

The iX3 is fully electric, with no engine or gearbox, replaced by batteries and electric motors. It is relaxing to drive in traffic, due to the absence of noise and vibrations from the exhaust and engine. It is nippy and accelerates fast, and torque is produced from low down. It feels more like a big i3 than an X3 with electric engine, retaining standard car features and interiors. For people not wanting a too futuristic electric car, it is a good stepping stone. The car handles urban areas well and comes in two-wheel drive only. Congestion charge is avoided when driving an electric car. At cruising speeds on motorways, it is comfortable, with compliant suspension, but with some tire noise due to the absence of engine noise. It is equipped with a panoramic roof. The rear seats have a good amount of legroom, but slightly reduced booth space due to motors in the back. The car doesn't have any storage space under the bonnet, but instead has a lot of electronics. The front kidney grill is mostly covered, and the bumper, wheels and side grill are different to the normal X3. The center of gravity of the electric car is lower. The rear spoiler and the lower diffuser are optimized for aerodynamics.
