Here's a summary of the review of the BYD Atto 3:
The Atto 3 is the newest car and brand to enter the Irish and European EV market. It's an SUV intended as a competitor to the MG ZS and Kia Niro EV, but priced a bit cheaper. It has a traditional SUV shape with nice creases, and comes in five different colours. The tested car is Surfing Blue. The traditional key fob has buttons for lock/unlock, and tailgate control on upper trim levels. The car comes with LED lights across the range and three different trims differentiated by interior features. There is no front trunk in the car.
All trims use the same 60-kWh battery. WTLP range estimates from 400 to the high 400s, and real-world driving would put it in the mid-300 km range. At 100% charge it showed 430 km predicted range.
The interior gets interesting, with nice fabrics and soft-touch plastic. The overall design theme is organic and wave-like. The steering wheel has driver-assist and cruise controls. All trims have 18-inch alloys and parking sensors, and it has that claddings SUV. A traditional nose silver plate snakes down into a smaller amount, then goes in high low beam modules and DRLs that comes across here and across the front up and you can see there's LED lights. There are three different trims and really it's just a little extra that are inside. No tinted glass in the back
Not the fastest DC charging, maxing out at 80kW. AC charging is 7kW on the entry level and 11kW on higher trims. The trunk has a nice dual-level floor. Boot has 440L capacity with the seats up, and 1338L seats down. No towing capacity, but roof capacity is 50 kgs.
The side pocket comes with the upper level trim comes with a three-phase vehicle-to-load capability (3.3kW). There's an NFC card that can be tapped to the mirror to open the car in lieu of the key. There is a slight disconnection between speed sign recognition on the main dash and nav.
The 15-inch screen is described as "very responsive,". The side door handles on each side of the door also includes guitar strings. The rear view mirror is good but some may argue it is double glazed.
The three-spoke steering wheel also allows for driver assist functions and cruise control on the left hand side and for menu audio etc. selection on the right hand side. Overall road noise feels cocooned.
