Video Summary

The BYD Seal Lion 7 is a stylish EV SUV packed with technology. It aims to compete with the Tesla Model Y and Kia EV6.
The Seal Lion 7 is available in three trims: Comfort, Design all-wheel drive, and Excellence all-wheel drive. The equipment levels are similar across all trims, but the drivetrain and power differ.
Styling is sleek and minimalist with raindrop-inspired lights, which it also shares with the Seal sedan.
The 4.5s on the rear badge reminds of how quickly the Excellence model accelerates from 0-62 mph.
The car fits four 28-inch suitcases or four 24-inch suitcases and four 20-inch carry-on bags in its large boot that measures 520 Liters. 1,789 liters with seats down, plus a front trunk.
This rear-wheel-drive comfort version has a 230 kW motor; other trims have a combined 390 kW output with an extra front motor. It has driver modes with different feels: Snow Land, Eco, Normal, and Sport.
Acceleration is good in Sport mode, pinning the driver to the seat, though it's said to wallow.
Charging time is 14.9 hours with a 7 kW wall box. With a 230 kW DC charger, 10-80% can be reached in 24 minutes. 150 kW DC charging for other trims. The regenerative braking has two levels: Standard, and Large.
BYD offers a standard is 8 year / 125,000 mile battery warranty, or 6 years for the car.
Highlights for the car include soft Napa leather seats, heads up display, plenty of cubby storage, a wireless phone charging pad, panoramic sunroof, easy to follow dash, I-TAC "Intelligence, Torque, Adaptation, Control" (real-time data from all wheels, ensuring your safety), Euro NCAP 5 star rated and a number of toggle safety switches.
All models feature traffic sign recognition and cross traffic collision assist, lane departure assist, parking assist, hill descent control, electronic stability control, dynamic break warning and adaptive lighting, the last of which could have you out of breath if you have to say the full list! There is also emergency lane keeping assist and blind spot detection.
Intelligent cruise control keeps a safe gap. In the corners it can feel a bit of body roll but is mostly a comfortable vehicle, easy to drive.
The car has excellent range, with a good safety rating and warranty for the price, and keeps all functions simple.
