Video Summary
The Fiat 500 Electric was awarded "Best Small Car of the Year" and "Best Overall Car of the Year". It is decently priced and has retro-chic styling.
The car has a fair amount of tech thrown in, with many options available. The model with a larger battery has an under 200-mile range. After a government grant, it costs £24,000.
The new Fiat 500 "Action" costs £20,495 after the government grant. It has a smaller battery, less range, and less tech. With that, it is more affordable.
It still provides cartoon-like styling and is a small four-seater, perfect for nipping around town. A real issue of the car is its small, 185-liter boot. It still requires back-seat passengers to lose feeling in their legs due to the limited legroom.
The only standard color for the car is ice white. Other colors are only optional. A convertible roof is unavailable on this small-battery model.
There is less chrome. You get a 7-inch screen in front of you, but there's no touchscreen in the center. Instead, you get a phone holder. Sequal seats made from 100% recyclable materials including 10% from plastic found in the sea, add a hint of sustainability.
Air conditioning is present but manual. The car has no leather, but adjusts to height. There's a stereo but no digital radio, also no cruise control.
Keenless go and electric windows are included. It also has two USB charge points. Safety systems like emergency braking and lane-keep assist are present.
It has a 24kWh battery with a potential 150-mile range. The 150-mile range can easily become double digits in winter. There is a three-pin charging cable included, but it's only 3kW. One can purchase the mode 3 CCS for £336.
You are able to do "lazy" driving. To add heated seats and a 7-inch touchscreen, one has to spend an extra £1,250. There is no heated steering wheel on this model.
The model has 162 foot-pounds of torque. It is fast off the line from zero to thirty. It has regenerative braking, activated when you lift off the accelerator.
There is little detail inside. The seats are comfortable with a memory foam headrest, and a 50kW rapid charger is also available.
All that makes the lower mileage acceptable, and it limits it to a city car. In conclusion, the reviewer recommends saving up and going for the Fiat 500 with a bigger battery.
