Key points and findings from the YouTube video review of the electric car

The 2024 Hyundai Kona Electric is considered one of the best values in the EV world. The exterior design is busy and might not age well, though the LED strip across the face is a nice feature. The test vehicle is the top-shelf limited model

It has active grill shutters on the lower bumper to improve aerodynamics

All exterior lighting is LED and power efficient. The charging port is located on the front fascia. It works with the Hyundai V2L adapter. The car also has 17-inch alloy wheels.

Generous cargo space provides 25.5 cubic feet of room with the rear backrests up, and approximately 64 cubic feet when folded down, 0.95 cubic feet in the front trunk

The interior is inviting, though inexpensive, due to the hard plastics. But they don't look cheap or flimsy.

Other key features are the dual 12.3-inch screens, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Wi-Fi hotspot, and numerous USB ports. Also has dual-zone climate control as a premium option.

The base SE version of the Kona Electric has a 48.6 kWh battery pack, offering approximately 200 miles of range, and costs $42,630 (including destination fees and carpeted floor mats). A $4,000 step-up will provide you with approximately 261 miles of range. Unfortunately, this Hyundai is not eligible for any Federal Tax Credits

The car DC fast charges at 100 kW, which is slow for 2024, with a 10% - 80% charge in 43 minutes. The front seats are flat and hard, which is not a positive.

However, it still delivers good performance

Light, crisp steering makes the Kona Electric feel agile and vibrant, while the regenerative braking is easily adjustable via steering wheel paddles. Ride quality is moderately firm but well-controlled.
