FULL REVIEW: Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer Electric: Loads better than an SUV?  |Electrifying

Uploaded 1 year ago by Electrifying

Video Summary

The electric Astra Sports Tourer could save a lot in tax, enough to have a nice holiday. Electric SUVs are less aerodynamic, use more energy, and don’t handle as well in corners. The electric Astra features 516 liters of boot space, increasing to 1553 with the seats folded, which do go nearly completely flat. The car is big enough in the back, but dark, and the materials are a bit scratchy. The front seats are comfortable with a German back association signing them off. It is more modern and nicer to drive, and more solid feeling than an MG. The test car has an official range of 256 miles from a 54-kilowatt battery; it uses about the same amount of power to move around as a supermini. The battery has become a structural part of the car, so it's actually stiffer than the hatchback, PHEV, or petrol versions. As a company car, it would save a tax compared to a petrol car, but it is a bit lost in the market and may not be the antidote to SUVs. As a car that doesn't compete on value, it might be more desirable if the base model wasn't 40,000 pounds because there are cars that do things better and cheaper.
