Video Summary

The Silverado EV is considered a Swiss army knife of vehicles because it drives comfortably and is great for road trips. It can tow well and has a spacious cabin. It is equipped with high-power charging and has a big range and great towing capacity. General Motors has stuffed a bunch of batteries in it which is what is needed with a truck, allowing it to work well in the real world. The Chevrolet team drove 1059.2 miles on one full charge of a 2026 Silverado EV work truck with 16 miles prior to the test, averaging 4.9 miles per kWh. It was done on public roads averaging 20-25 mph, though people did reach a maximum of 50 mph at points. They had to wait for the right temperatures to begin the test and tried to drive the car as efficiently as possible, including using worn tires with the maximum allowable PSI.  The tonneau cover helps in the aerodynamics as well. After the test, they did a partial charge to move it to the charger. The GM team is trying to go for more low-speed efficiency on country roads because they said that a number on a closed course is not as impressive. One YouTuber was able to achieve 8 miles per kWh in a Chevy Spark EV at lower speeds. Also at the end of the journey, they drove with the windows cracked as there was no climate control to help prolong battery life. With the test conditions, a low draw gives you extended battery life. Also, for longer trips, the 12-volt charger should be attached to help with the parasitic draw. A test with the same battery as another vehicle resulted in lower kWh as well because of those same test conditions.
