Hyundai Ioniq 6 range test | Can it do 550km round trip on one charge?

Uploaded 2 years ago by Nobby On Cars

Video Summary

The Ioniq 6 is being reviewed for a road trip from Dublin to Cork and back. A better route planner app is being used for this trip; the free version gives good charging locations and times, or paying for the premium version adds live traffic and weather. The car officially does over 600 kilometers, but a main point to test is whether a full Cork round trip with just a single charging stop is possible. Driving at 120 kilometers per hour leads to around 17.9 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers. Driving at 100-105 kilometers per hour leads to around 16.7 kilowatt hours per 100 kilometers. Only about 14 minutes were needed to add charge to make the road trip.
Compared to a Ford Mustang Mach-E on the same trip, this was a lot less stressful. The Ioniq 6 may fall short of its official range, only getting around 500 kilometers, but it is still smooth, comfortable, and more efficient overall. Features lane-change assist. The sound system's bass for the upgraded audio could be better. Carplay works only with a USB cable.
The reviewer is impressed overall and finds the vehicle is great, but notes it is expensive.
