Is A $30K Used Ultra Luxurious Mercedes EQS A Steal?

Video Summary

The EQS is an S-Class-like luxury sedan that cost over $100,000 just a couple of years ago. Used ones can now be bought for around $30,000. Mercedes depreciate quickly, and the EQS takes the cake. One reason why it’s so cheap is because it looks like an average sedan from the side. The front end is not attractive. Mercedes spent a lot of time making the car as aerodynamically efficient as possible, and completely forgot to make it look nice.

Its gas-powered counterpart, the S-Class, looks much better. The wheels are nicely proportioned with a great design. This EQS is a premium sedan, as touching the door handle makes it automatically pop out, and it has Mercedes-Benz inscribed on it. The door doesn’t open easily; you have to use muscle to open it. The whole time you’re hearing pulsating futuristic noises that add to the EQS experience.

It has nice ambient lighting, and different lighting effects with the headlights. The luxury experience far surpasses other cars, especially Tesla. There's the option of a hyper screen, which is not in this car. But it still has plenty of displays: one for the driver, and the middle display. The displays are crisp, with very good visuals. This model has 355 hp, which is not too bad; it can still pull because of that instant torque, but the 580 is quicker with 536 hp. For 30 grand, 355hp is just fine.

You can select displays using the steering wheel. Everything is controlled by the settings menu. There is a 360 view of the car to easily scroll around. It has massage seats. You can get a relaxing back massage in this $30,000 car. You can also switch between drive modes.

Storage area with strap is useful for securing items in the car. There are cup holders that are hidden away. It has a good-sized center console area. The EQS caters to your every whim. You want luxury, you got it with this car. You have pillows in the back seat as well as on the headrest. Also rear-row AC and climate control.

The EQS has good range. It provides a lot of trunk space and under trunk storage. It has an adaptor to use Tesla superchargers. It is whisper quiet with all its sound deadening and insulation, getting little road or wind noise. With a podcast, this car has the best sound. The quiet can drive you a little crazy. It houses an incredibly complicated air cleaning system.

Handling is a downside; the car offers no satisfaction; it’s a dull and boring car to drive, and is disconnected from road feedback. The brakes are also wonky. Overall the EQS might not look that great, but pretty much everything else about it is pretty great. The driver should prepare to have the right side of the face always be warmer than the left side. The recommendation is to sell the car when the warranty runs out because of the tech included.
