Video Summary
The Lexus RZ 550e F Sport, a facelifted version, will be available to customers at the end of this year or the beginning of next year. The exterior only has a new rim color. It is longer than the Lexus NX, but shorter than the RX. The optional two-tone paint job on the hood and roof, which the reviewer personally does not prefer, is available. The trapezoidal air vents can only be found on F Sport models. It is longer than the NX by 14 centimeters but shorter than the RX by 8.5 centimeters. The RZ's trunk has 522 liters, plus an additional 58 liters of storage beneath the floor.
Space in the back is ample for legs and head, as the reviewer reports having 186 cm. The back seats do not recline, which is seen as a drawback. The rear also has air vents and USB ports. There is a photochromatic roof that can be darkened by a single click. The tester drove the car in Portugal, where it was 39 degrees Celsius.
The tested car has a steer-by-wire system in which electronics and not a physical connection link the steering wheel to the wheels. Redundancy of components is required in order to receive European certification for the electronic system. The steer-by-wire system adds 11 kilograms to the car’s weight. The wheel has an odd shape but has been improved, and it is easier to hold properly. While less nervous at higher speeds, steering is difficult at lower speeds and around town. The car’s digital gauges and displays are touched and swiped using buttons on the wheel, but this is clunky and needs to be improved. It has a flexible trunk shelf that can be easily folded and hidden, an electric tailgate, and three rear shopping bag hooks. It is very smooth and quiet but can also switch to a simulated gear shift mode.
The Lexus RZ550e can do 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. After five fast DC charges within 24 hours, subsequent charges are limited to around 30 kilowatts. The combined consumption is 18.4 kWh per 100 kilometers, and the vehicle weighs from 2135 to 2180 kilograms. The prices start from about 270 000 PLN for the weaker FWD version.
