The tested car has a steer-by-wire system in which electronics and not a physical connection link the steering wheel to the wheels. Redundancy of components is required in order to receive European certification for the electronic system. The steer-by-wire system adds 11 kilograms to the car’s weight. The wheel has an odd shape but has been improved, and it is easier to hold properly. While less nervous at higher speeds, steering is difficult at lower speeds and around town. The car’s digital gauges and displays are touched and swiped using buttons on the wheel, but this is clunky and needs to be improved. It has a flexible trunk shelf that can be easily folded and hidden, an electric tailgate, and three rear shopping bag hooks. It is very smooth and quiet but can also switch to a simulated gear shift mode.
The Lexus RZ550e can do 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds. After five fast DC charges within 24 hours, subsequent charges are limited to around 30 kilowatts. The combined consumption is 18.4 kWh per 100 kilometers, and the vehicle weighs from 2135 to 2180 kilograms. The prices start from about 270 000 PLN for the weaker FWD version.
