Video Summary

The review of the MG IM6 electric car finds the following:
- The MG IM6 is an electric SUV from a brand named IM, a joint venture between SAIC and Alibaba, in China this model is known as IM LS6, but in Australia is known as MG IM6.
- IM stands for Intelligence in Motion.
- In China, this particular model is known as the IM LS6 but it will be sold as the IM6 in Australia to associate with MG, another SAIC owned brand popular in Australia. This association leaves some customers wondering, is this an IM6 or an MG IM6.
- The IM logo looks cool, and the little round part doubles as a boot opening release button.
- The rear has a full-width light bar. The rear has a pinched ducktail that is straight out of the Aston Martin DBX design book.
- From certain angles, the IM6 does look a little awkward, a little bit droopy, and doesn't look as good as the IM5 sedan version.
- There are nice touches, such as the flush door handles (that debuted on the Range Rover Velar). Also, to open the doors, you simply pop your fingers inside the slot and it pops open for you.
- There are frameless windows front and rear and double glazed windows.
- The car has staggered 21-inch rims and wider rubber at the rear.
- It is 4.9 meters long, or a little bit shorter than the IM5 sedan, but longer than the Tesla Model Y.
- IM6 is largely replicating the IM5 lineup even in pricing.
- There are three trim grades, two electrical architectures, the base model which is a 400V platform with a 75 kWh LFP battery.
- The mid-spec Platinum and flagship performance models are 800v architecture. This is something that puts them above the Tesla Model Y.
- Pricing starts at $60,990 driveaway, up to $80,990 driveaway for the performance version.
- The performance version is dual motor all-wheel drive. The other two IM6 models are rear-wheel drive.
- If you want the longest range IM6, then you want the platinum which comes with a WLTP of 555 km. The performance can go from 0 to 100 in 3.4 seconds.
- The cabin is unlike anything else in the MG portfolio. Perceived quality is very high, a lot of that is driven by the cabin being absolutely plastered in artificial leather. But the premium execution is not totally nailed throughout the cabin. You've got electric adjustment for the front seats, but it's not particularly extensive. Lower portions of the cabin have cheaper plastics. The upper door speaker looks very classy in metal, then the lower door has a square plastic speaker.
- An optional interior trim is a white with a chunky square padding that is referred to as asylum spec.
- There is plenty of headroom in the rear seats, with the full length glass panoramic roof, (which is thermally insulated, 78% heat reduction, the company said you can cook an egg on top on a hot day). Also comes with good foot space.
- Rear seats are reclinable via a top mounted lever. Rear also has seat pockets and USB-C charging port.

Boot Space: 646 Liters or nearly 200 liters more than IM5.
There is also underfloor storage.
