Pairing a phone and getting things to work has been a bug bearer and not as slick as other brands. The car has nice contrast stitching.
In terms of practicality, the MG really scores with space for five full-size adults to be comfortable. The boot is bigger than the average hatchback and is a useful shape for dogs and pushchairs. The rear seats fold down. A small trailer or bike rack can be mounted on a tow bar.
The more attractive thing about this model is the 273-mile range. It contains a 72-kWh battery mounted under the floor and manages average efficiency for this type of car. An 80-kilowatt rapid charger sees 10-80% of the battery in just over 40 minutes. A 50-kilowatt charger puts in roughly 160 miles of range in just over an hour.
There are three strengths of brake regeneration.
The steering is video gaming-like and feels oddly heavy, especially in sports mode. There are rough edges in the engineering. Starting on an incline, the car shudders. It is also not desperately quiet on rough surfaces.
Overall it's a good car and a solid effort from MG and cheap to lease.
