My Tesla Model S Plaid might have been a dumb purchase

Video Summary

The Model S has triple the range of the Model 3. Even though the Model S is two years newer and MSRP is $80,000 more, he prefers driving the $50,000 Model 3 Standard Range Plus he bought in 2019. The Model 3 provides everything he wants and needs in a car, feeling like post-car clarity.

The quality jump in the Model S is big, though. Ride quality and material quality are twice as good. The additional features like the cooled seats are great. It feels like they put their all into this car and it is incredibly high quality. The 8k ultra-high display is great, though the steering wheel is “veiny”.

While the yoke steering wheel in the Model S "looks cool", he misses having a full wheel. And, compared to the Model S, now the Model 3 doesn’t feel remotely fast. At this point, he states that he’d regret trading in his model 3 to drive only the Model S. There are also many more aspects and elements that can break on the Model S compared to the Model 3, like air suspension and auto door handles. The 3 is perfectly fine.

The ideal car for him right now would be a refreshed Model 3 performance. If forced to choose just one car, he would still likely pick the used Model S.
