New 2025 Dacia Spring Review | Is the Cheapest EV You Can Buy Actually Any Good?

Uploaded 4 months ago by Buckle Up

Video Summary

The Dacia Spring is the cheapest electric car on sale in the UK. Made on a tight budget, it features one windscreen wiper, one windscreen washer jet, and a predominantly plastic front. The plastic front is screen-printed with a city map. The car has the Dacia corporate face, with daytime running lights up top and headlights down below in a two-tiered fashion. The charge port is under the Dacia badge on the front grill. The car has CCS fast charging of 34 kW. AC charging allows for a 4.5-hour recharge.

It has 15-inch wheels with thin 165 profile tires. The vehicle reviewed is a production team test car, which may explain some oddities. The battery capacity is 24.7 kWh usable (26.8 kWh capacity). On an AC charger, the car recharges in 4.5 hours, with DC charging able to reach 20-80% in 45 minutes.

Rear leg room is not strong, and the rear seat is a bench that doesn’t 60/40 split fold. Folding the seat reveals 1000 liters of space. A cargo van variant has no rear seats. There is under-boot storage for tire repair and the charging cable. It’s missing cup holders.

Front seats have four-way adjustability with the seat moving forward and backward in addition to having the back rest move. There are a few climate shortcuts on the dash, and the window controls are in the center. The steering wheel is slow to turn.

The reviewer does give his endorsement to getting the more powerful version. The car has plenty of headroom, and though the navigation is a bit wonky, it's quite a responsive system. Overall, this is a no-frills small EV for the city, which gives a really good value for the money. Its cheap, simple, and easy to drive. It’s also under a ton, it's that light. It is not designed for long-distance trips and it can keep pace with traffic.
