Video Summary

The BYD Atto 2 is a new Chinese electric SUV that comes with a low starting price and rotating infotainment screen. BYD stands for “Build your dreams.”
In 2024, BYD was the fastest growing car brand in the UK.
The Atto 2 in China is known as the Yuan Up, but over here in Europe, it is the Atto 2 which should give you a pretty good indication of where this sits in BYD's lineup because it is smaller than the Atto 3.
The build quality and materials are reasonably good.
The other models in BYD’s European lineup include the Seal, Seal U-Dmi, Sealion 7. The Seagull is coming.
The car shares the same electric car platform as the Dolphin and the Atto 3, but is 4.3 meters long and has proportions similar to the Kia EV3.
It has full LED headlights and slim running lights. It also has a roof spoiler and a full-width light bar.
There are 4 paint colors.
The Atto 2’s interior is more sensible and serious than other BYD interiors that we’ve seen.
The car features an 8.8 inch driver display, a 12.8 inch rotating infotainment screen, and can adjust climate/fan speed with 3 fingers. This runs the latest software from BYD.
The Atto 2 electric SUV’s driving position is pretty good. There is good seat and steering wheel adjustment with a 360-degree camera.
There is decent headroom in the back with a panoramic sunroof on all trim versions. You can have three people side-by-side on a flat floor with an excellent amount of legroom.
There is roughly 400 litres of boot space, which has a height-adjustable floor, and fold-down seats that lie pretty flat.
There’s no front boot, but it looks like there’s space for one.
The Atto 2 has one battery and one electric motor. It will be the BLADE LFP battery with a 45.1kWh in Europe. However, the U.K will get a bigger battery. The range is 194 miles. The car has a heat pump and V2L capabilities, for which an adapter is required.
The ATTO 2:
-174 bhp
-214 lb ft
-FWD Automatic
-7.9 sec, 0-62 mph
-up to 194 miles WTLP
- 100 mph Top speed
With that 174 brake horsepower electric motor and 0 to 62 mile an hour time of 7.9 seconds, that in this class is pretty swift and it does feel quick off the line. As you'd expect with an electric car, on the road it's not particularly inspiring in terms of handling. The steering is light, lifeless, plus, the suspension is a bit hard.
