Video Summary
The reviewed car, Polestar 3, is a sports utility vehicle with prices ranging from £70,000 to £81,500. It's a striking piece of metal that causes you to look twice. One model can achieve over 400 miles per charge; another model has over 500 horsepower.
It is similar in size to BMW's iX and Audi's Q8 e-tron. The aerodynamic wing in front improves efficiency and extends the electric range. The front lights have Polestar's signature Thor's Hammer shape. Door mirrors are extravagantly designed with frameless glass. Its door handles pop out like fists when you approach with the key. The car has a walk-away locking system where the handles tuck in automatically.
The boot has minimum 484 litres and a maximum of 1411 when the back seats are folded forward. The rear height can be adjusted by 40 mm.
Stock contrast to the exterior, the interior is very simple. Gold seatbelts add a pop of color. Polestar is keen on sustainability, so the sweeping dash has reused aluminum. One real physical button exists for the audio. The audio is a selling point, with its optional Bowers and Wilkins sound system with Dolby Atmos 3D surround sound. You can also adjust the interior to your liking.
The steering wheel has haptic controls but they are difficult to work out. Some physical control options can be adjusted from a screen.
It is stuffed with safety aids and driver assistance. Updates are sent over the air. It has big wheels: either 22, 21, or 20 inches. The car can tow up to 2200kg. There are Pirelli P Zero tires on the model. One pedal drive, with adjustable suspension, gives drivers great control. One pedal driving is too aggressive for a full stop, and does better with hand controls. There's good body control. But there's a lot of weight: 2600kg. German rivals are better at handling the sound. It’s a competitive, strong option for buyers.
Some of the storage areas in the car can be tricky. Also, it is impossible to charge both the phone and car key at the same time.
