Video Summary
The NIO ET9 flagship is being compared to the BMW 7 series, Mercedes S Class, and S Class Maybach. The ET9 features a clean front look with a 60-hour polished ceramic blue paint. The slim daytime running lights, and matrix LED headlights have pixel functions and can project a light carpet for communication with the outside world. A similar system is also used with Mercedez and Audi to show the driver their lane. Front trunk opens electronically, activated by voice or key, which avoids double unlocking.
The Nomi voice assistant is built in to the car and can be activated from outside the car. It has a length of 5.32m or 209 inches which is shorter than BMW 7 Series and fits in the luxury sedan segment. The ET9 has some technology that can be found in shorter Porsche Panameras. It features a hydraulic system that controls each wheel individually.
The car's standard height is relatively high, and includes an entry help that raises the car when you open the doors. But European versions will do the opposite and lower the car when doors are open for easy ingress and egress. NIO plans to release the EV in Europe in 2026. The Porsche Panamera, Audi Etron GT Facelift, and Porsche Taycan Facelift face lift does not have this system.
Other technologies are set at 40 Hz frequency, which reacts faster than the system in the Porsche at 15Hz, and helps keep the car level. There is a retractable rear wing that says "Blue Sky Coming", with a light strip spanning all the way through. A 95 or 112 kWh battery with a 600-kilowatt DC charging peak is equipped. It has a Matrix LED headlights with pixel function, which projects light on the road to communicate with outside traffic.
Interior details: a high build quality, high end materials such as high grade leatherette are to be found and the car is designed for the long commutes. The Steering wheel has a by-wire electrical backup system, while lacking any mechanical connection. In China it has an about 100k EUR price tag without the battery. In the rear, an additional feature are isofix attachment points, additional cushions, screens on the backs of the seats, USB-C ports, and a cup warmer or cooler and an exclusive table. A feature 5D cinema has AC and car suspension that shakes with the movie. Has a lane assist head up display system. The model features additional sound protection against burglars, for more safety and a quieter passenger experience. It comes prepared for level 3 autonomous driving, but is now only running level 2+.
