The Škoda Elroq is smaller than the Enyaq, but bigger than the Karoq. The car has a very futuristic look, with the daytime running lights in the top, the main headlights underneath, and no grille. Škoda has updated its logo, and this is the first car to get it. Top specification models can exceed £40,000, resulting in an extra "luxury car" tax. The bonnet and lights have good designs, but the rear is more generic and less interesting, but still looks fine. The presenter likes the shape of the bonnet and the overall aesthetic of the car.
The interior is familiar, similar to the Enyaq with no obvious quality difference. The switches have a nice, damped feeling, which improves the ownership experience, and there is a wide range of storage available. Climate controls run through the screen and this isn't a good thing, as it makes the car harder to use. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, but the wireless connection is unreliable, so using a cable is often preferable.
The 85 model number doesn't reflect the kilowatts, as Škoda claims it relates to the battery size, and the Elroq 85 has a 77kWh battery. Some people might find that annoying, and the placement of it in the back is simply copying Audi’s mistake. In earlier Škoda models, there was usually an ice scraper, but here it’s been relocated to the boot.
The reviewer measured a 0-60 mph time of 5.88 seconds. Although some may find this disappointing, some classic performance cars have a slightly lower top speed than this model. The braking distance of 33 meters from 60 mph is found to be not bad. The adaptive suspension is highly recommended because the ride is much better in comfort mode.
One complaint: It is hard to tell if the car is off, as often the ignition switches off automatically on exit. With the 21” tires, handling is predictable and stable, yet the lack of wind noise is excellent. There is about 270 miles of real-world range, which is 76% of Škoda's range claim. It's easy to fit a child seat, even though the ISO fix points aren't great, but this can be forgiven due to the comfort levels in the car.
