Smart #1 Brabus FULL review (+ MG 4 XPower drag race!!) | What Car?

Uploaded 1 year ago by What Car?

Video Summary

The Smart #1 Brabus has additional front-mounted motor, boosting it to 422 bhp, compared to the standard single-motor version. This gives it all-wheel-drive capability.

The Brabus version is as quick as an Audi RS3.

The range is 248 miles, a reduction from the premium #1's 273 miles.

Exterior differences are subtle: air intakes on the hood that are actually fake; a more aggressive front splitter; red highlights around the exterior. The same size of 19-inch wheels. It has red brake calipers. There is a slightly larger rear spoiler.

Interior details are red stitching on the steering wheel, door cards, and seats, as well as Brabus logos. The seats feature an alcantara-like suede material, and the ambient lighting has a warm glow.

There are no major changes to the suspension; it has only been mildly tweaked to handle the added weight of the motor.

The price is around £43,450, about £4,500 more than a #1.

The overall suspension set up is the same as the #1, which is why it understeers when pushed to its limits. It feels top-heavy. This is why it's classified as a performance SUV, not an engaging driver-focused EV.

Even with the stability control turned off, the car won't allow it to be truly off because Brabus is aware that it is too powerful for its own good.

Both the MG 4 XPower and Smart #1 Brabus have the same time of 3.7 seconds to 60 mph. After some runs, the reviewers saw the MG performance decline as it got hotter.

The #1 Brabus is comfortable to drive and boasts a more premium badge, though it’s more expensive than its rivals.

It’s a fast, but not particularly engaging, EV to drive.
