Video Summary

Here's a summary of the video review.

The Tesla Model S P90D is a fast accelerating four-door sedan. It's electric and a weapon, and the meanest and quickest Tesla. The P stands for performance, and the D stands for dual motors. One motor is on the front axle, and the other on the rear. The battery lies along the bottom of the floor of the car.

The latest version of the P90D has had cosmetic surgery, including a smaller mouth than the last Model S, and different headlights. The Model S has been out since 2012, and is starting to age a bit.

The optional red paint costs $2,300, the glass roof also costs $2,300, the 21-inch wheels cost $6,800, and the carbon fibre spoiler costs $1,500. Black next-generation seats are $3,800, and carbon fibre dash trim is $1,500.

The 17-inch screen comes standard. Pretty much everything is on it, from the controls to the lights, sunroof and temperature to opening and unlocking the charging port.

One can pay $15,000 for software that makes it go from 0-100 in 3 seconds via a "ludicrous mode."

The Model S can be equipped with optional smart air suspension at the cost of $3,800; it can automatically raise the suspension for previously saved driveways. Standard features also include satellite navigation, parking sensors, and a reversing camera.

The cabin feels like half science laboratory, half minimalist artwork, though there are mysterious hidey holes in the centre console, and its contour arm rests are nice. It's practical, with five comfortable seats and plenty of legroom, although the floor is high because the batteries are underneath.

Annoyingly, the key comes in a tiny pouch, and is easily lost.

On the plus side, the car doesn't need to be turned on or off. The car handles well and its centre of mass helps prevent roll in corners. The ride on air suspension is delicious. A full battery in the P90D will get you about 732 km. It only takes about 70 minutes to fill right up, and it's free at a Tesla supercharger, or install a wall unit at home.

The Model S is as quick as a super car, without the impracticality. Electric from a renewable source makes driving emission-free.
