TESLA Owner Tests Out A VW ID.5

Uploaded 2 years ago by The RCS EV

Video Summary

The ID.5 pedals have a pause and play button on them as a reminder for the Germans.

The driver has repeatedly operated the wipers because they are going back to the old ways.

Regenerative braking is set to regen but feels nonexistent.

The ride quality is definitely better than Teslas.

The car has a lot less road noise.

A lot more road noise in the Mustang Mac-E in comparison.

The wind noise from the A-pillar was big in the Mac-E.

Visibility is good.

The wing mirrors are massive, and this is a plus point.

The A-pillar is quite small and therefore does not restrict viewing.

One can actually see out of the back window.

The chunky tires help with handling.

Road noise from these chunky tires is noticeable when driving on an uneven surface.

The handling is the same as any other normal hatchback/SUV.

The basic model seats are comfortable.

The armrest needs to be closer and a bit higher.

The squishy materials in here, like the dash, are indicative of cost-saving measures.

Acceleration is probably in par with a Model 3 single motor.

No lag, but rather instant acceleration.

The regen is good above 60, and around half power from 40 onward.

The presenter likes the look of the ID.5.

The rear lights are cool.

The basic model's boot does not have an electric tailgate.

There is a little ski hatch and lights at the back.

It also has load hooks so you can restrain stuff, and the car comes with a cargo net.

Overall, boot size is comparable with the Tesla Model Y.

There is some storage space under the boot floor.

All ID.5’s contain a 77-kilowatt-hour battery.

Range is expected to be about 300-330 miles.

The basic ID.5 "style" is £50,000.

The base model is only £3,000 less than a dual-motor Model Y.

The ID.5 is a more stylish but less practical car than the ID.4.

Would recommend the tech as it gives a head-up display.

Headroom is limited if you are more than six foot tall.

Overall, a good-looking car with a 77-kilowatt-hour battery and about 300-330 miles range.
