Video Summary

The 2025 Volvo EX40 offers good overall performance, including a 0 to highway speed acceleration in 5 seconds. The styling is similar to the internal combustion version, with pixelated LED headlamps and fog lamps.  The Ultra trim has all available features, including a heat pump to improve cabin heating and battery temperature optimization. It has a 360-degree camera of surprisingly good quality.  Fog lamps are wrapped in black bezels, and there’s a glossy black highlight below the Volvo badge with a matte finish on the lower bumper. The hood is on hydraulics, and there's some front trunk space. Volvo provides roadside assistance, covering battery jump-starts, flat tires, and lockouts. There is front sensing for park assist included in the Plus and Ultra trim, but not the Core. The basic power train warranty is 4 years/80,000 km (50,000 miles), with hybrid/EV components warranted for 8 years/160,000 km (100,000 miles) in Canada and the US. The Sand Dune color is not a favorite, but the styling is sharp. The EX40 is rear-wheel drive standard, with the option of a twin-motor, all-wheel-drive setup. All-wheel drive is recommended for colder environments. 19" or 20" wheels can be found on the vehicle. Level 1, Level 2 and level 3 DC Supercharging options are available. A 20 foot charge cable is included. Level 1 charging (0-80%) is more than 65 hours, level 2 is 13+ hours, and level 3 (175 kW) is 23 minutes. There is a 2000 pound towing capacity which will reduce the range. The powered liftgate can be operated from the key fob, or with a foot activation (requires a specific foot swipe).  Carpeted mats are discouraged in lieu of the Thermoplastic Rubber trays. The steering wheel is manually telescopic, but heated, and the seats are cloth and faux leather. There is no Android Auto, but the 9" infotainment runs native Android. The full mapping cluster is helpful, but there is no hands-free driving capability with existing Pro Pilot Assist. There are limited assist handles in the second row. Interior space offers decent leg and head room (if somewhat tight). Overall, the car is solid and handles very well. Volvo's added touch of class inside the interior are subtle but appreciated.
