This car drives us mad... Lexus RZ450e Long Term Report | Electrifying

Video Summary

Here is the summary of the electric car review:

The car doesn't really make sense in most practical terms and figures, being demonstrably inferior to other cars of the same size and price. It's beautifully built with interesting technology. The build quality is good in most places. The dealer will be nice to you. The charging flap feels flimsy and doesn't shut easily, giving a warning light on the dashboard.  The doors work electronically rather than mechanically, requiring passengers to be told how to exit.  The black bonnet looks like it came from a scrapyard, yet is an expensive option.  The rear spoiler doesn’t direct the air to clean the back window. It doesn’t have a wiper, but the rear camera has its own little washer. The shiny black plastic marks easily, captures dust and crumbs. The display is an ideal size and the best head-up display that the reviewer has ever tried.  It contains a charging pad for the phone. It has the usual climate control and a clever automatic function; it senses when you'll need a heated seat, steering wheel or infrared heaters. This car has plenty of room in the back, heated seats, charging ports, and a 240V socket. The drive is nice with a rear-wheel-drive feel, two taps on the paddles provide decent regenerative braking, and the brakes are good. There are some subtle lane departure and speed limit warnings, but there are too many bings and bongs.  However, the emergency braking system is too sensitive. With Eco mode, with the front engine off, the car range is 15 miles. It has poor efficiency with an average of 2.5 miles per kilowatt hour. Overall, the range and efficiency make it difficult to recommend the RZ. For Lexus drivers, this isn't going to feel too alien, but those considering alternatives, stay with your hybrid for now until new technology arrives.
