The A6 will be available as electric or petrol versions. The electric version has a blanked-out grill, different light arrangement (similar to Citroen Picasso). The petrol version has a proper grill, bigger air breathers, and normal headlight design. Audi uses even numbers to designate EVs and odd numbers for gas cars, but the A6 range will have both electric and petrol models. The model in review is an S6, the high-performance version of the A6. The car has large 21" alloy wheels (starting at 20" standard) and red performance brake calipers.
Door handles are sleek but easy to operate. This A6 is the most aerodynamic car Audi makes. The blacked-out rear windows are not ideal, but the rest of the exterior looks nice, except for the Audi badge.
While initially a fan of Audi interiors, the reviewer is going off them. He notes the screen has considerable bezel. Still, it is responsive and the graphics look nice. The climate controls are separate but operated via the touch screen.
The digital driver's display graphics are sharp, but the design is not as good as past Audis. He is not sure that this car has done much to save production costs compared to the earlier model.
The armrest is comfortable, while some of the materials do not feel as high quality as the previous A6 generation. The vehicle has good storage. An included cloth is provided for the dashboard screens.
Rear seat legroom and headroom is good but the footwells aren’t very deep. The doors are difficult to access. There is no felt lining in the back area door storage.
Standard adaptive cruise assist is a first for Audi. Head-up display has lane and speed assistance. The adaptive cruise works without wearing the driver out.
The S6 model tested is 3.71 seconds 0-60 mph, and that’s impressive. The reviewer claims to average 2.6 miles/kWh of energy consumption.
The ride is quiet and smooth, the S-suspension handles bumps well, but it can feel the car's weight during cornering. Overall, the A6 is competent as a daily driver. A potential buyer should shortlist the A6 Avant. Digital door mirrors are a £1500 option, which is going to cost a lot to fix. Also, there is no depth perception when looking at the screen from the mirrors. There is a rattle from the seatbelt adjustment. The large charging port cover opens slowly and feels flimsy.
The Audi voice assistant has Chat GPT backup to answer unknown questions. With the taillight design the car displays graphic images to give messages to other drivers.
