Three’s the magic number! Kia EV3 “Air” Long Range review and GT-Line S comparison

Video Summary

Here is the summary of the YouTube video:

The Kia Niro is a great car, being efficient and solid, with a good range. Charging is a little slow. The Kia EV3 looks like a smaller Kia EV9. It's a lovely-looking car. The DRLs are running down and across the top, the bonnet looks bigger in pictures than in reality, and there is a tiny little frunk, big enough to put charging cables in.

This EV is quite boxy, but in a good way. It's the "Air" trim and there are slight differences depending on which trim you get. It is 4,300mm long and 1,560mm in height, the turning circle is 10.4m, the cargo capacity is 460L and 1,251L with the seats down.

This trim has 17-inch alloy wheels, the GT-Line and GT-Line S has 19-inch.

Boot depth is 78 cm and it is 1.6 m across.

The gap between the parcel shelf and seats seems odd.

Towing capacity is 1,000kg long range and 500kg standard range.

The back is comfortable. Plenty of knee room. But a slightly smaller than in the e-Niro.

Headrests look like ET and it has a couple of cup holders.

The front has a heated steering wheel with two levels and has three-level heated seats.

The front seats are heated on this air trim.

It has a lovely steering wheel and everything looks classy with no piano black plastic in here.

It has fabric seats, but in the GT Line and above, it's like an artificial leather.

There is no lumbar support in the air trim.

There is no sunroof, with the sunroof in the GT-Line S.

Reverse parking camera is high quality.

Up here, the infotainment. But in terms of positioning, it's in a middle area because it blocks the climate control.

There are buttons anyway for climate control.

It has Gear selector, and on-off button. Has wireless car play. Battery conditioning to warm the battery up for charging. But does not use the 800-volt charger.

On a rapid charger, it charges up to 80% in 31 minutes with the larger battery.

Complaints about the range of cars: charging speed is pretty slow

On a rapid charger it takes 44 mins to get to 80%.

The larger battery charges up to 80% in 31 minutes, 127.5 kW max.

The smaller battery 29 minutes, that's 100kw. But its the EGMP platform, that's 800 volts from Kia EV6 and EV9.

I think I want one.

The KIA Pride was my first car!
