The VW ID.5 is the coupe version of the ID.4. The ID.5 features a closed-off grill with a light signature across the front. The Matrix LED headlight is standard. It comes in Kings Red.

It has a falling roof line which makes the vehicle more aerodynamic and sportier styling; the hip area is also more prominent. It is equipped with special wheels, 19 to 21 inches, although 20 inch wheels are standard for the GTX version.

The wheel arches remain crossover, even in the GTX version. It is 4.60 m long with same wheel base as ID.4. Rear overhang is slightly longer.

This electric car has a wing for channeling air flow, and a modern rear lamp signature. GTX model has different lower part accentuations.

It is available as a rear-wheel or all-wheel drive, with 10.4 or 8.4 seconds acceleration. The GTX all-wheel drive version accelerates to 100 km/h in 6.3 seconds.

All ID.5s have the 77-kilowatt hour net battery. All-wheel drive GTX models have different cell chemistry from LG, the Korean supplier, and charge a bit slower, while the rear-wheel models have batteries from CATL, the Chinese supplier, as does Fisker Ocean.

Recharging with AC at 11 kilowatts, 155 kilowatts for the GTX and 135 kilowatt peak for Pro models.

The interior has high-gloss piano lacker. Backlit sliders will be released in 2023. The tested model has soft-touch materials. Leatherette seats are standard, but also offers sport seats. Both seat options have electric controls.

There's no middle tunnel.

It has a wing that channel the air below that is very interesting and the overall is very technology in styling.

Has great noise insulation, but no engine sound covering up any road noise.

You have limited rear visibility but good side visibility, and you can only change so much in the digital instruments. Most assistance comes from the heads up display.

There is a fixed panoramic roof with shade for direct sunlight. The trunk has a usable volume, but due to the roofline is not as high as the ID4.

On driving, it’s still more like a golf with the driving agility and sportiness, even with weight of the batteries. It handles well. The driving feeling is smooth and all elements work nicely together. Has very direct steering input.

With adaptive suspension, it feels really good in corners. The regenerative braking is smooth, there’s no noticeable jump between it and the regular brakes.
