What I Wish I Knew Before Buying a Tesla Model 3 Long Range

Video Summary

After 18 months and 18,000 miles, it's time for a review of the Tesla Model 3 Long Range.

Rear visibility is a concern due to the small rearview mirror and the rear parcel shelf sloping up and away.  Cars behind appear closer than they are; side mirrors and the rear camera provide a better perspective.

The speed is something to get used to with 0 to 60 in 4.2 seconds.
The $2000 "acceleration boost" upgrade can bring it down to 3.7 seconds, but it is hardly needed.

It has autopilot; it is like having adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist.

Regarding safety, there was an accident where the family was rear-ended at over 60 mph. There was minor whiplash but the family were mostly okay.

The sound system is loved by the reviewer. It is very powerful.

The suspension and wheels are not a strong point but that's not such a problem as it's made out to be.

Headlights are excellent, specifically with the matrix LED headlight, that is easy to drive with at night.

The basic autopilot in the UK is adaptive cruise control and lane keep assist; autopilot is more useful on A roads or motorways. Autopilot can't navigate sharp corners.

Autopilot may not be worth it for the UK due to strict rules and regulations about assisted driving. However, it offers safety advantages.

A key benefit to the electric car is always getting into a car that's neither too hot nor too cold, as it knows what time one will need to leave in the morning and has the climate system adjusted accordingly.

Range varies between 250 to 300 miles, depending on the weather.

Constant software updates improve different functions. For example, headlights, which were bad when the car was first bought, now has improved. Automatic high and low beam operation, though still not great, is leaps ahead of what it was before. The blind spot camera did not exist when it was first bought, but has been added.

In conclusion, it's a recommended excellent car with constant improvements. To gain boot space, the next vehicle will be a Model Y Performance.
