Video Summary

The Smart #1 has a 66 kWh battery, while the VW ID.3 has a 52-82 kWh battery. The Smart #1 has a 158 kW DC peak, but 185 kW has been seen. The VW ID.3 has 120-170 kW DC peak. VW ID cars suffer from software problems. The Smart #1 has many promising features in the software, but right now it is pre-launch and not amazing. Trunk space is way smaller in the Smart #1. Rear seat space is very similar. Front seat space is also similar, though the ID.3 feels more spacious. The Smart #1 has a bigger screen, which is straight. In the Smart, seat heating and airflow are adjustable on the screen, while in the ID.3 only temperature is adjustable.

Driving in the Smart #1 is not very sophisticated. Re-gen comes in with a delay and then strongly. Then the re-gen goes away again. It doesn't go to a standstill. Steering is okay in light, but it feels like there's nothing in the middle and then a bit more. The Smart #1 has a lot of power. With a cold battery, it did not get the full power. A warm battery and high state of charge is required to have the full horsepower in the Smart. The cruise control in the Smart #1 cannot disable self-steering at the moment. Self-steering in the Smart is great. There is a high noise level in the Smart, while the ID.3 is quiet up to 120 km/h. The suspension is a bit soft on the Smart. It's a bit jumpy. The ID.3 has the perfect suspension.
