The 2024 Hummer EV SUV is considered "big" and "dumb," but enjoyable. A new dual motor starts at $134k, while the trimotor starts at $147k, and includes an extreme off-road package that adds $11k. This model also has a $26k omega package that includes blue paint and black badging/emblems. Used models are cheap.The trimotor off-road offers 830 horsepower and goes from 0-60 in three seconds. It has mud terrain tires, locking differentials and selectable drivers, and added underbody protection. The truck is an exceedingly capable vehicle.
The reviewer enjoyed the truck a bit more than the SUV. The Rivian R1S is significantly less money. After living with the Hummer EV SUV, the car is huge to drive around, and neighbors found the vehicle offensive. With batteries inside, this giant SUV weighs about 8,700lbs (only a couple of thousand pounds more than a Lotus). The electronically powered "boot" is a nice feature. There is not a lot of space for cargo due to the weight of batteries. The vehicle is almost as heavy as a Honda Civic Si. There is not a third row of seats, as the R1S has. With the top off, the vehicle gets the "creaks". Super Cruise works, although it almost caused an accident and often the settings are difficult to use. The reviewer concludes the vehicle is too dumb. The interior of this particular model was horrible.
That said, the model still has crab walk. Some of the pluses include comfortable seats, wireless charging, and spaciousness (it had truck-like utility with the frunk). There is a great turning circle, which is thanks to 4 wheel steering.
