Video Summary

The Hyundai Ioniq 5N has dual electric motors producing 601 horsepower and fueled by an 84 kWh battery. The starting price is $66,100 with options costing $795, a destination fee is $1,375, bringing the total purchase price to $68,270.

The EPA rates the range at 221 miles, but the car overachieved at 236 miles in range tests. The 5N has a larger bumper with spoilers and red accents. A rear wiper is included. It has big brakes, big wheels, and air gaps for cooling.

The car is easy to drive in general mode, but the modes are adjustable for power output, steering, and dampers. There is a red N grin boost button that gives an extra 40 horsepower. The driving positions are good and the racing inspired steering wheel and sport seats add to the experience. The front seats adjust manually. Some testers felt the seats should go a bit lower.

The center console is configurable and includes a cell phone holder with rubberized lips. Controls include an electronic gear shifter. There are climate control options on the screen. The car is standard with Apple Car Play and Android Auto.

The 5N's handling dynamics are great. It is a fresh change from the usual EV experience, featuring artificial shifts and exhaust sounds. With N Drift Optimizer you have to sign a waiver for track use only. This Hyundai is the most engaging EV tested here at Consumer Reports and well worth considering.
