Video Summary
The 2026 Genesis G70 has major updates including a restructuring of the trim levels. With this restructuring the top trim is less expensive by approximately $2500.
The G70 has two engine choices. This version is a 3.3-liter twin-turbo V6 with 365 horsepower paired to an 8-speed automatic transmission with 19 MPG combined fuel economy with all-wheel drive.
The base price for the G70 is $42,000.
The trims are now a 2.5T Standard, a 2.5T Prestige, and a 3.3T Sport Prestige which is shown. The 3.3T Sport Advanced trim is no longer offered. The previous 2.5T Sport Prestige trim loses the Sport name and is now simply named Prestige.
The 3.3T Sport Prestige model is the most aggressive looking, with a smoked chrome finish, signature Genesis grill, and fully LED quad beam headlights with split daytime running lights and turn signal indicator.
The car retains an athletic appearance. Every element in the taillight unit is LED. The tail lights include prominent Genesis branding. The review finds the look in the lower fascia appealing. There are circle-integrated exhaust outlets that pump out a quad exhaust system.
New wheel designs are available for 2026. The car shown has 19-inch alloy wheels with a gloss black finish. V6 models have red brake calipers.
The mirrors are fully loaded and include blind spot monitoring, auto-dimming on both the driver and passenger side in addition to power folding and heating.
The trims have been consolidated. The adjustments to the trim levels remove the 3.3T Sport Advanced. Also, the previous 2.5T Sport Prestige is now called just the Prestige trim, losing sport design elements.
Inside, though there are no design changes, there are equipment changes. Base models have leatherette seats while the higher 2.5T Prestige models use real leather. The reviewed Sport Prestige 3.3 trim now uses real leather, not nappa leather. Three colors are available in the interior along with 16-way adjustable power seats, and power thigh extension along with adjustable bolsters.
Most trims include memory seats. The top-end model loses the suede headliner from last year's model.
Wireless phone charging is standard on all trims except the base model. The older software and the smaller 10.25-inch infotainment system remain for 2026. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay still require a wired connection. It is said that 360-degree camera provides a good experience. Standard on all but base trim, it does not have the newest Genesis design where it spins around in a 3-D view. Physical knobs and audio controls are available for quick adjustments. Three-stage heated seats are standard on all but the base trim. Ventilated seats are standard on the upper trim models.
Compared to some competitors, overall sound quality is good, the overall cabin space is described as quiet and comfy. The interior storage is relatively small. The console can hold 6 donuts. The middle passenger may be uncomfortable since there is a large tunnel in the middle.
There are 35-inches of legroom and 37 inches of headroom, but people over 6' tall may feel it's too snug.
For power, there is solid push when the accelerator pedal is pushed. It's paired with all-wheel drive, so the traction is good even when wet. However adaptive dampers have been removed. The ride quality feels a bit stiff, which is appropriate for a sports sedan.
Base models come with forward emergency braking, auto high beams, lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, and highway drive assist.
The price reduction is considered a major selling point.
Genesis brand cars retain 42.08% of the original MSRP after 5 years and 60,000 miles. And after 10 years and 120,000 miles the cars retained value of 12.47%. Reliability ratings rank on par with the industry average.
The car comes with a five-year/60,000-mile basic warranty and a ten-year/100,000 mile powertrain warranty. Three-year /36,000 mile complimentary maintenance is also included.
