Exterior changes are minor with two cut-outs in the lower fascia instead of one, brighter LED headlights and a double lattice grill as opposed to a refined texture. Interior changes include a lower and flatter dashboard, a single 27-inch screen, and a new steering wheel. Air vents have been moved up, and the shortcut buttons have also been moved up as a touch-sensitive panel. Wider diamond patterns are now in the seats, orange stitching replaces the red trim, along with orange seatbelts, nodding to the new Genesis Magma racing team. The real feature is seatbelt pre-tensioners for the rear. There is also acoustic side glass to make the cabin quieter.
Like the G70 sedan, the GV70 has a small cargo hold for the class, at 29 cubic feet with the second row up and 57 when folded. The 3.5L twin-turbo V6 makes 375 hp with 391 lb-ft. The 2.5L turbo I4 makes 300hp and 311 lb-ft. Both offer all-wheel-drive and an 8-speed automatic transmission. Fuel efficiency is improved with the 2.5 liter. Road-preview scans the road to pre-adjust dampers. Wireless Android auto is also available. A new Bang & Olufsen stereo with 16 speakers sounds great. Wireless updates improve performance, and custom ambient lighting is available.
The model being tested, the 3.5 T sport prestige, costs $72,000 with destination. With its warranty and the level of detail, it stands out from other competitors. The handling is better, but this trim isn't quite as sporty as a BMW M performance or Mercedes AMG GLC 43. Regardless, it's improved.
