Video Summary

The 2026 Hyundai Ioniq 9 all-electric SUV has a sleek, swooping design. It is based on the same platform as the Kia EV9. It competes with the Cadillac Vistiq, Rivian R1S, and Volkswagen ID Buzz. Base prices range from approximately $58,955 to $76,490. The test SEL model cost $68,840 including a $1,600 destination fee. The final assembly point is in Ellabell, Georgia.

There are three powertrain options. The mid-level SEL has standard all-wheel drive, with an 88-horsepower front motor and a 215-horsepower rear motor. The EPA estimated range is 320 miles.
In terms of styling, the Hyundai is sleeker and swoppier than the Kia EV9, and features a large LED array on the front. There are nicely filled-in wheel arches.
The biggest styling difference is the roof that slopes down in the back, with what Hyundai calls boat-tail styling. The styling may compromise cargo space.
Door handles are flush while driving. When stopped, they pop out for easy entry.
The sill is narrow and low for easy access, and the seats are at hip height.
The power-adjustable front seats make it easy to find a comfortable driving position, and the SEL has a manually adjustable steering column. There is easy access to the controls and great visibility. The view out back is compromised by curved styling and headrests.

There is generous storage space with giant cupholders and a removable tray under the center armrest. There are deep storage areas in the center console and a damped glove box.
There are many physical buttons and knobs, but the touch-capacitive buttons are low-mounted and can be distracting to use while driving.

The vehicle rides well and handles well, due to its low center of gravity, though the driver is aware of the heft. The regenerative braking system can now be adjusted during braking. It offers full one-pedal driving. Ride quality is pretty good with minor issues over the bumps on highways. The SEl model has 20-inch wheels and tires.
All Ioniq 9s come standard with all the required safety gear: forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keeping assistance, which are also standard.
