Video Summary
The new Mazda 6 will be electric and known as the Mazda 6e. The Mazda 6e features a front grill with diamond-shaped elements. On the European model, the large grill does not have illuminated diamond elements. The only front illumination is an arc element and a set of smaller diamond shaped lights which indicate the state of charge of the battery. The daytime running lights are thin. The main headlights are concealed in the grill's frame.
The car is 4.92 meters long, 1.89 meters wide, and 1.49 meters high. It has a wheelbase of 2.90 meters and nineteen inch wheels. The side of the car is linear, sharp-edged, and smooth. The car also features Air Curtains to help with Aerodynamics. The side design has a linear style with a boat like quality.
The backlights have a classic Mazda ring design. The Mazda logo has been replaced with the Mazda name in narrow type. The car has a spoiler that automatically extends past 90km/h or that can be manually extended.
The car will have both a front trunk, providing 70 liters of cargo space, and a rear trunk. With the seats in the normal position, the back trunk can hold 330 Liters. However, with the rear seats folded down, it is possible to obtain 700 Liters.
The interior has very few buttons. Almost all functions are managed via the dashboard display. The steering wheel has a two-spoke design. The seats are made of fine materials, including something that looks like Alcantara leather. On models with the higher trim levels, climate settings can be controlled from the back.
The car will have two engine options. The basic version features a 68.8 kWh battery and a 258 horsepower motor, giving a range of around 479 kilometers. A second version will have an 80 kWh battery and a 245 horsepower motor, giving a range up to 552 kilometers. Both versions feature rear-wheel drive. An all-wheel drive option is not currently planned. The charging system of the basic model will support up to 200kW, while the larger battery will only support up to 95kW. It will take roughly 22 minutes to charge the smaller battery from 10 to 80% full. While it will take roughly 45 minutes to charge the larger battery from 10 to 80% full.
The entry level model will cost around 45,000 Euro. The Takumi Plus models will cost more, depending on options.
