FIRST DRIVE: Hyundai Ioniq 5 N, 641bhp Hyper-Hatch! | Top Gear

Uploaded 1 year ago by Top Gear

Video Summary

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is an electric hot hatch with 600 horsepower, or 641 in N Grin Boost mode for 10 seconds. 0-62 mph is achieved in 3.4 seconds and a flat out top speed of 167 mph.

The review took place in a pre-production car with launch control, and everything seemed to work.

In a straight-line race, this car is much faster than a Honda Civic Type R.

There are many modes and settings. These include:
- Drive mode toggle, includes eco, normal, and sport mode.
- N Grin Boost, giving an extra 41 horsepower for 10 seconds.
- N Button, to put you into custom N mode with an aggressive tune.
- Paddle Shifters can change the level of regen.
- Select between levels of Road Grip on Launch Control.
- N-Shift enhances the fun and joy of driving by simulating a feel and sound of internal combustion engines and transmissions.
- N Active Sound allows the driver to select the preferred synthesized sound.
- N Torque Distribution to change balance from 100% front to 100% rear bias.
- N Drift Optimizer.

It's heavy, with noticeable weight transfer.  You need all this electronic trickery in order to dial in the correct balance.

It's a very big car with a proper sense of humor. On the track with all of these features on, the reviewers brain was overloaded but having a great time.
