I Drive The Lucid Gravity For The First Time!

Uploaded 8 months ago by Out of Spec Reviews

Video Summary

The car turns like crazy, with awesome rear handling. It does all the stuff you want it to do. The windshield is huge, and the sun visors are out of the line of sight, which is no longer annoying. It drives incredibly. The windshield gives you a pulse on the company. If you want more content, there is a 2-hour-long episode detailing the entire gravity experience with even more information. Drivers get a first impression of the car at Lucid Headquarters in Newark, California. There is a tour, front to rear, and the video is a bit of a hodgepodge, partially at the office and partially here because we don't have a lot of time, talking to engineers that are responsible. What is mentioned is that everything here is an early prototype, but the U.S. cars have NACS and not CCS.

The Gravity includes:
- Two rear motors
- The dynamic Handling package
- There is available a Lucid Gravity Touring Grand trim at $94,900, and there will be cheaper options in the future.

It includes features of the triple-chamber air suspension; Adaptive Driving Beam. If you get it without Dynamic Handling, the brake calipers are Black. Power adjustments are now separate between suspension height and spring rates, which results in a wider range of sportiness, the former of which they found to be very effective. For the average user, standard suspension seems targeted at being most comfortable most of the time.

It has new UI
- Seamless 34" OLED screen.
- The upper screen has UI, driver controls, and a general UI.
- No Android Auto (like the Air). No Apple Music. This one didn't have it. The screens looked better quality, though.

The gravity seats have a stowed-and-go configuration similar to Chrysler, and they had never seen seats configured the way these did, as they fold up underneath the floor, not just down. There is also a NEMA 5-15 outlet with 1.8 kWs of power.

Rear seat is 2 fingers' width, it's not totally intrusive. As to the door, the doors on this model open to 90 degrees. The team discussed a bunch of the tech, and that's why this video is going to be a two-part.

The turning radius of the Gravity is 38 feet with rear steering. The reviewers were able to feel the rear steering, commenting that that the motor sounds great with just a little audio feedback, it was easy to slide in and out to set up the rear seats, and the handling was very good. Reviewers mention it needs some software and charging improvements. But what matters to most people is the smoothness and quiet highway driving. The vehicle feels sturdy and rigid, rather than having a "swimming feeling" and has a nice smooth feeling at the throttle.
