Video Summary
The Nissan Ariya is a game changer, blurring the lines between volume and premium brands.
It is a compact SUV/crossover with a closed EV front grill. The daytime running lights are slim and the headlamps are full LED.
It's offered in dark blue, dark green, and copper colors.
The car has 19-inch wheels with an aerodynamic design for ride comfort. 20-inch wheels are an option for more prominent styling. Wheel arches are painted black for a sporty look.
The batteries are in the lower section of the vehicle. It has two battery sizes: 63 kWh net or 87 kWh net.
The smaller battery will have an interesting range.
Side profile is sleek, giving a crossover look. Overall length is 4.6 meters.
It will be available in front-wheel or all-wheel drive. Acceleration differs by a little less than 2 seconds, which is 7.5 seconds to 6. Acceleration goes from 0 to 100 km/h or 62 miles. There are plans for a quicker performance model, but not for now, citing low demand.
The top speed also differs. The front-wheel drive tops out at 160 km/h (100 mph) and the all-wheel drive at 200 km/h (125 mph).
Has a base suspension across all models. No adaptive suspension, but a multi-link rear axle improves comfort.
Has 22 kW three-phase AC charging and 130 kW DC charging, with a good charging curve. This offers a recharge from 10-80% in about 35 minutes with the larger battery.
There is no front trunk, just equipment under the hood.
The name "Ariya" is supposed to be derived from Sanskrit, meaning "noble." The presenter in the video believes it might not be an ideal name for the German market, since pronounced exactly the same way, it's a historically loaded reference to the German word "Aryan".
The key fob is slim, light, and high quality. There's no high-gloss piano black finish on it, which is awesome.
Closing sounds are very good, low-frequency, sonorous. Door materials include Alcantara microfiber and soft leatherette.
For the midsize segment here. You will have a 22kW 3-phase charging for AC, that's great and 130kW DC charging, but with a good charging curve, we can also show that charging curve and that means that from 10 to 80% state of charge the big battery, you will charge them out 35 minutes.
There are options for the animal-free leather-wrapped steering wheel as well as the Bowe surround sound system.
Heads-up display is standard on nearly every trim.
Acceleration is good with great driving situation. The 2 X 12.3 inches display works well. There's a hotkey for the camera.
