Opel Corsa Electric (2023) - AutoWeek Review

Uploaded 1 year ago by AutoWeek

Video Summary

Opel Corsa Electric has been updated with a new front design featuring a black, glossy visor look between the headlights, which are available with 14 LED lights. The back is recognizable by larger "Corsa" letters across the tailgate. The interior remains mostly unchanged, featuring hard plastic materials, although front passenger space is decent for taller individuals, while rear seating is cramped for adults. Luggage space is 309 liters for the gasoline version and 267 liters for the electric version with the battery under the floor. The updated multimedia system is slightly faster but still lags behind industry leaders. The electric version comes with a new 156 HP powertrain, more efficient than the previous 136 HP version. The new battery pack is slightly larger at 51 kWh (compared to 50 kWh), contributing to a longer WLTP range of 405 km, although the practical range is closer to 350 km. The car has regenerative braking controlled by a "B" button near the gear selector, offering a smoother deceleration than solely relying on the brake pedal. The handling is stable due to the low center of gravity from the battery placement, offering a good balance of comfort and dynamics, although it's not a sports car and the steering feels a bit disconnected. Pricing for the 136 HP version is around €35,000, while the 156 HP version is about €38,000. While competitive within the Stellantis group, other manufacturers like MG and BYD offer more range and performance for a similar price or less. Overall, the Corsa Electric has improved, but it's not the most competitive option in the EV market.
