Here is the summary:
The Samsung Galaxy A16 5G is expected to be the best-selling Android phone worldwide. For about 90% of the general population, this phone provides all the smartphone they need.
The A16 has outrageous social media interest. The A11, A12, A13, A14, and A15 were near the top of the best-sellers list, quarter after quarter. It’s fair to assume that trend will continue. It’s a familiar, affordable smartphone from Samsung that’s just as good for scrolling through Instagram and texting as a phone four times the price or, at least, is not four times worse. It might be Samsung’s best seller due to its convenience within the Samsung ecosystem.
The A16 is not the cheapest phone or the best budget phone, as it has specs, capabilities, limitations and omissions. It is also not attractive or unique and is similar to its predecessors. It is dust and splash resistant (IP54). The older screen tech has a camera notch, a thick bottom chin, and is all plastic. It is 6.7 inches which is slightly bigger than the A15. The peak brightness of 800 nits is with auto brightness. Colors and resolution are great, but the 90 Hz refresh rate (although not adaptive) makes the phone look and feel fast.
There is a microSD card slot and will be six Android/One UI updates. A 25W fast charger is supported, with a 5000 mAh battery. You get 128/256 GB of storage, and can add more through the microSD. The headphone jack is removed. There’s one bottom speaker and audio quality is only ok. There is an Exynos 1330 or Mediatek Dimensity 6300 processor. It runs on Android 14. RAM varies from 4 to 8GB. The phone can game well, though launch and load screens take time, and high graphic settings are hard to enable. Overall, the camera setup is the biggest compromise: the 50MP main lens/5MP ultra-wide/2MP macro is same as the A15. Also, the 13MP selfie lens is the same.
When compared to flagships, this phone is: - Less expensive, with it’s around $200 retail price; you will likely pay around $99 from a carrier - The A16 full retail price is a fraction of the S series phones and is a good value
