Video Summary
BMW introduced the iX SUV to America in 2022. The 2026 iX will have styling updates, new wheel designs, a new battery pack for more power and range, and a new interior as part of the M Sport Appearance Package. The front fascia has a slight update, with new LED headlights and a new front fascia; the vehicle shown has the M Sport package. The twin kidney grill also has a different texture and still has adaptive cruise control, radar sensors, and the self-healing paint for small scratches.
It’s basically the size of an X5 at 195 inches long with a 118-inch wheelbase. A 23-inch wheel design comes with the M Sport Package; wheel sizes from 21 to 23 inches will be available. The M Sport includes blue-painted brake calipers; the M Sport Pro Package has red calipers.
It has interesting door handles; the charge port door is on the side. A panoramic glass roof is an option, but doesn’t vent air. Tail lights have a slightly updated light signature. An M Sport Package gives you a more aggressive rear diffuser.
The door has a solid sounding thunk. A chestnut interior is available or an optional full Merino leather. Recycled materials are included, and iDrive 8.5 is used. There is 12.3" instrument panel display and 14.9" central display, both with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The seats are M Sport specific, heated and ventilated, and adjust 18 ways. Leather is on the door panels, with crystal glass controls, a glass executive package, and glass controls on the shifter and iDrive controller.
There are 38" of legroom, which is two inches more than the X5. There are also rear seat air vents, heated rear seats, 4-zone climate control, and USB-C charging ports. A little cubby with a mounting point is on the seat backs. With over 17,000 units sold in America in 2023, the iX has significantly improved over the years. The iX can be thought of as an electric X5. The base model (XDrive 45) may get a little cheaper, possibly starting under $80,000. The M70 will probably cost just north of $115,000.
