Video Summary
- The Toyota Proace City Electric could suit drivers who drive mainly on urban roads. - It uses the same underpinnings and oily bits as the Citroen e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner, and Vauxhall Combo E. - It has the same 136 brake horsepower electric motor and 50-kilowatt hour battery pack as its siblings. - A full charge allows for up to 161 miles of travel. - Its range is slightly less than that of its sister vehicles. - It is available with just one trim level, and either short or long wheelbase forms. - This has very few decisions to be made by consumers. - Toyota wanted to make a really well-specified van for private users as well as fleets. - Sharing its foundations with its sibling vans, it also shares a lot with passenger cars from Peugeot and Citroen. - Because it handles well, it is more comfortable. - With its heavy batteries located under the floor and with no heavy diesel engine, the Proace City Electric handles really well. - It has nicely balanced steering. - There is little body roll when going through corners. - It's every bit as good to drive as rivals including the Ford Transit Connect and VW Caddy. - There is no gearbox in this single-drive electric motor. - A more connected feeling to the road is felt through Eco, Normal, and Power driving modes. - Driving modes alter the power and torque levels of the electric motor to help preserve battery life. - B mode button controls the amount it slows down when the regenerative braking starts as you lift off the accelerator, feeding energy back into the battery. - The interior may not be the last word in design, but at least it is functional. - The equipment feels built to last and it's certainly loaded up with kit. - Air conditioning, cruise control, a fully adjustable seat, parking sensors and automatic headlights and wipers are standard. - It is comfortable. - Visibility is improved by the optional Visio Park 180-degree bird's-eye view system, which replaces the rear-view mirror with a small screen. - There is a good deal of storage, and a folding table on the passenger seat. - The standard wheelbase vans have a maximum load length of 1,817 mm. The longer L2 wheelbase models are able to fit up to 2,167 mm. - Payload ranges from 750 kg. for long-wheelbase vans, to up to 800kg. for the shorter models, not too far from the diesel-engined equivalent Proace. - It is great to drive, and just as practical as the diesel engine alternative. - The Proace City Electric is real value for money if you want a high-specification electric van. - A warranty of up to 10 years is offered if servicing is done at a Toyota dealer. - Toyota has made it its van of the year for 2022, along with the Citroen e-Berlingo, Peugeot e-Partner and Vauxhall Combo E.
